Abstract

This paper explores the validation and deepening of the core law of dialectical materialism—the law of the unity of opposites—based on the emerging topological vortex theory. This theory conceptualizes space as an ideal superfluid, where topological phase transitions generate vortex structures characterized by the opposition between left and right-handed chirality. These structures form complex spacetime systems through self-organization and interaction. This physical picture provides profound natural scientific evidence for the law of the unity of opposites, demonstrating not only the scientific basis for the universality of contradiction but also revealing the specific mechanisms of interdependence, struggle, transformation, and dynamic equilibrium between opposing sides. Starting from the physical properties of topological vortices, this paper argues for the manifestation of the law of the unity of opposites in micro- and macro-scale spacetime structures, further elucidating the scientific nature, rationality, and correctness of this law in describing the evolution of complex systems.

1. Introduction: Dialogue Between Scientific Theory and Philosophical Law

Dialectical materialism, as the science of the general laws governing the development of nature, society, and thought, centers on the law of the unity of opposites. This law posits that everything contains internal aspects that are both opposed and united; the struggle and identity of these opposing sides propel the development of things. However, this philosophical law has long required continuous validation and enrichment from new advances in natural science [5]. Topological vortex theory, a cutting-edge field at the intersection of theoretical physics and condensed matter physics, offers a new explanatory framework for the nature of spacetime and provides a highly enlightening scientific model for the law of the unity of opposites.

Topological vortex theory (TVT) proposes that physical space can be viewed as an ideal superfluid that is non-viscous, incompressible, and isotropic. This superfluid background can undergo topological phase transitions to produce stable vortex structures. These vortices possess definite chirality (left- and right-handed) and form multi-scale structures in spacetime through self-organization and nonlinear interactions. This theory may not only lead to breakthroughs in fundamental physics such as quantum gravity and cosmology, but its inherent dialectical structure also highly coincides with the law of the unity of opposites.
