Refuting the Mystification of Quantum Mechanics (1)

Abstract

The mathematical formalism of quantum mechanics is highly successful, yet its physical interpretation has long been shrouded in mystification, leading to a series of philosophical dilemmas detached from physical reality. This paper, based on Topological Vortex Theory, proposes a new physical picture: the essence of space is an ideal superfluid that is inviscid, incompressible, and isotropic. Its topological phase transitions form spacetime vortices, which constitute complex spacetime structures through self-organization and interaction. Topological spacetime vortices, as physical entities unifying opposite chiralities (left-handed and right-handed), can naturally exhibit all the mathematical features of quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics itself is a description of the physics of low-dimensional spacetime matter (e.g., topological vortices) but has long lacked definitions for geometric forms and hierarchical structure. Imposing high-dimensional macroscopic world concepts (such as a cat that is "both dead and alive") onto low-dimensional quantum phenomena is not only a misuse of physics but also leads scientific discourse toward mysticism. This paper aims to clarify this confusion and calls for a return to the rational construction of physical reality.

1. Introduction: The Root of Quantum Mechanics Mystification

Since its inception, quantum mechanics has been accompanied by concepts like "wave-particle duality," "uncertainty principle," "superposition states," and "non-locality." While mathematically precise, these concepts are often imbued with philosophical overtones transcending experience and are even analogized to paradoxical phenomena in the macroscopic world (e.g., "Schrödinger's cat"). This tendency toward mystification stems from two defects in the theoretical framework of quantum mechanics:

(1) Lack of Geometric Form Definition: The quantum is defined as the smallest unit of energy, but its spatial structure, morphology, and modes of motion have never been explicitly described; it exists merely as a mathematical symbol.

(2) Neglect of Matter's Hierarchical Structure: Physical theories have failed to clearly distinguish the behavioral laws of matter in spacetimes of different dimensions, directly applying the logic of the high-dimensional macroscopic world to low-dimensional quantum phenomena. Topological Vortex Theory offers a possible physical picture to fill these gaps.
